Welcome to Bay Woof, January 2021
Hello Dog Lovers,
Happy New Year! It’s the first Friday in 2021. We made it!
Whether it’s crossing over into a new year, a new administration, or a new vaccine, most of us won’t see much immediate change in our daily lives even though we’ve flipped the calendar page. But when things do start to change - and we hope that’s sooner rather than later - how will we carry all that we’ve learned to the next chapter?
Many aspects of our lives today are far from our former reality. But one thing has remained steadfast, and that’s our love for our dogs. One paw at a time, these special friends have helped us make it from before-times through months of quarantine all the way to our rocky present. And they’re with us still as we look with cautious hope toward a better future.
Reflecting this hope, Bay Woof’s winter issue is full of light and flowers, thanks to our cover story and beautiful images from Sophie Gamand. An artist and the author of Pit Bull Flower Power, Gamand shares her story about finding forever homes for long-term shelter dogs by capturing their loving spirits through photography. This month also marks the debut of Red and Howling as cartoonist Amy Luwis shares her heartwarming comics featuring - you guessed it - dogs. Of course, you’ll find many more must-reads among the new features and columns in our January 2021 issue below.
We hope the New Year holds you and yours warmly in the love you’ve created, the places you’ve imagined, and the hope you’ve kept alive during these dark times. We know the power of love and care for a canine being has been an abiding source of light for many of us. Whatever the future holds, we will get through this together.
Best wishes for a wonderful 2021 from the Bay Woof crew!
