  • Humans who have arthritis have been found to have mood changes caused by the disease. Now researchers at the University of Bristol in England are investigating whether dogs’ moods change due to arthritis flare-ups. 

  • Scientists believe dogs can sense the Earth's magnetic field and use it as a compass. This ability is called magnetoreception.

  • Wolves and dogs can make two different types of fur pigment: the black type, called eumelanin, and the yellow type, pheomelanin. How and when these pigments are produced determines fur color, according to researchers at the University of Bern.

  • The FDA has warned that grain-free diets may increase the likelihood of heart disease in dogs.
