Although the markings of the maned wolf may resemble a fox, it is neither a fox nor a wolf. Found in parts of South America, maned wolves are the only member of the genus Chrysocyon, meaning "Golden Dog." They typically stand 3’ tall at the shoulder; by comparison, gray wolves stand 2.6’ at the shoulder. One of the favorite foods of the maned wolf is the tomato-like wolf apple plant, and the animals’ urine smells like hops or cannabis.
