  • The American Kennel Club holds more than 22,000 dog events with more than 3 million entries each year.

  • Ladybugs rarely cause problems if eaten by a dog, but the real danger is poison from Asian lady beetles. How to tell the difference? Ladybugs are red with black spots, while Asian lady beetles vary from red to orange and may not have black spots on their backs. Asian lady beetles also have black spots on their heads that form the shape of the letter M. 

  • The folks at Jack Daniels Distillery have a case before the U.S. Supreme Court. It seems they’re barking mad over a parody squeaky toy by Bad Spaniels that looks like a bottle of their famous hooch. 

  • Want to treat your dog to a gourmet meal? For $75, Dogue (rhymes with vogue) in the Mission district will serve your dog a multi-course "bone appetite" meal featuring dishes like chicken skin waffles and filet mignon steak tartare with quail egg.

  • British retailer Bed Kingdom recommends you wash your sheets 2-3 times a week if your pet sleeps in your bed, claiming that, in addition to shedding fur, dogs, cats, and other pets carry even more bacteria than humans.
