CDC Issues New Pet Pandemic Guidelines
The Centers for Disease Control still say there’s no evidence that pets play a significant role in the transmission of COVID-19 in the United States. Nevertheless, the CDC recently issued new stricter guidelines for humans and their pets.
Limit your pet’s interaction with anyone outside your household.
Keep cats indoors if possible and do not let them roam freely.
Walk dogs on a leash at least six feet from people outside their own households.
Do not attempt to put a mask on your pet.
Do not wipe or bathe your pet with any type of disinfecting product. There is no evidence of contracting coronavirus from fur, hair or skin.
Avoid public places where large numbers of people gather.
If you are sick with COVID-19, avoid contact with your pets and have another person care for them. If that’s not possible, wear a mask and wash your hands before and after you interact with them.
Contact your vet if your pet becomes ill.
Keep washing those hands!
