  • Don't feed chicken skin, turkey skin, or fatty cuts of meat to your dog as it could lead to pancreatitis, according to Stephanie Dwilson of Pets Best and veterinarian dermatologist Dr. Fiona Lee.

  • The most expensive dog breed is the Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog, according to Pet Insurance Deals, with the average cost of a puppy running $1,400 to $1,800 and lifetime care costs of about $11,715. Native to the Carpathian Mountains, these dogs weigh 100 to 130 pounds when full grown and live roughly 12 to 14 years.

  • Dogs and wolves diverged genetically thousands of years before wild dogs were first domesticated.

  • A Golden Retriever named Bumper and a Black Labrador called Peanut at the University of Bristol have been trained to detect Parkinson’s disease by sniffing swabs from a person's skin. Currently, there are no other diagnostic tests for Parkinson’s disease and symptoms may start up to 20 years before they become visible and persistent.

  • The technical term for zoomies is Frenetic Random Activity Periods or FRAPS. Dogs typically get them when they have excess energy to burn, after they've been bathed, during play, or when they're just super excited.
