• The first guide dogs for the blind were trained in the 1750s at a Paris hospital. Training guide dogs became more formalized in 19th century Austria where Johann Wilhelm Klein published one of the first manuals for coaching guide dogs in 1819.

• Dog collars and leashes date back at least to ancient Mesopotamia. They were even depicted in artwork of dogs belonging to Mesopotamian gods.

• If your dog suffers from mild separation anxiety issues, experts say not to make a big deal when you leave and arrive at your home. When you leave, try presenting your dog with a puzzle toy stuffed with food. They also suggest leaving home for short periods of time to get your dog used to separation.

• National Take Your Dog to Work Day is June 24, 2022. It's celebrated annually on the Friday following Father’s Day.

• The Food and Drug Administration advises dog owners to wash their hands before and after each feeding, as well as washing dog bowls after each use.
