  • Model and actor Emily Ratajkowski has a Husky-German Shepherd mix named Columbo.

  • If large breed puppies ages 5 to 18 months appear lame or begin to limp, they may have panosteitis. Also called “pano,” this is a bone inflammation that may last a few days or weeks and often goes away on its own. Fever, loss of appetite, or a high white blood cell count may also occur, but because those conditions may be due to other health issues, it's best to check with your vet.

  • The dog activity many call the zoomies is also known as frapping, which comes from the acronym FRAP for “Frenetic Random Activity Period.”

  • Bernard de Menthon, born in 1020 A.D., became a priest and established a hospice in the Alps for Christians making pilgrimages to Rome. Over time, the monks there created search parties to rescue missing travelers and, by the early 1700s, they began using dogs to help with their searches. De Menthon was eventually canonized, which is why the dog breed the monks used to search for lost travelers is today called the St. Bernard.

  • Kabosu, the Shiba Inu that is the face of Dogecoin, passed away in her sleep in May 2024 at the age of 18.
