• Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have a Bernedoodle, a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle.

• Strongheart the German Shepherd was a star of the silent film era. Director and animal trainer Laurence Trimble discovered him in Berlin, Germany, during the last year of World War I. The dog served in the German Red Cross and his original name was Etzel von Oeringen. His debut was in the 1921 film, The Silent Call. By 1923, Strongheart was supported by uncredited cast members Clark Gable and Gary Cooper in North Star.

• The Talbot Hound is an ancestor of the modern-day Beagle and Bloodhound. The original breed was all white with floppy ears, and it was a popular hunting breed during the Middle Ages, favored by William the Conqueror.

• The oldest dog on record is an Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey who lived to be 29 years and 5 months old. Bluey was born on June 7, 1910, and died on November 14, 1939. He was owned by Les and Esma Hall of Rochester, Victoria, Australia.

• First developed in the 1980s, the American Bully is an offshoot of the American Pit Bull Terrier. Bullies have exaggerated features such as excessive skin folds and large, muscular frames.
