• The state of Maryland has begun to deploy dogs to sniff out illicit alcohol in correctional facilities.

• If your pooch poops white poo, there could be a couple of reasons including too much calcium in the diet (more common for dogs who consume raw food) or ingesting a non-food item like toilet paper or paper towels (dogs often eat inappropriate items because they’re bored).

• Southern California is facing a distemper outbreak among dogs. Dogs can catch it from a food or water bowl left outside and thus shared with infected wild carnivores like raccoons.

• Darwin, a German Shorthaired Pointer, is among a growing number of dogs being trained for wildlife conservation. This Colorado-based pup has been trained to track and identify bumblebees, whose population has dwindled. 

• Harley the Labrador likes to grab discarded plastic bottles on his morning walk around the park in Pudsey, Leeds, England. He leaves them by the trash can so his owner John Evans can throw them out.
