Bing the Great Dane, co-star of the movie The Friend with Naomi Watts and Bill Murray, was already a veteran of dog shows and sports competitions before his film debut. One skill he had to be taught for his role–not condoned in the home of his owner, Bev Klingensmith–was how to scratch at a door. Bing already knew the command "Pancake," which meant to put his head down and rest it on any surface, which came in handy when his character needed to appear sad.
