  • Skipper, an Aussie/Collie mix in Oklahoma, is the first known dog to be born alive with six legs and two tails.


  • Nikita Khrushchev gave Caroline Kennedy (JFK’s and Jackie Kennedy’s daughter) a white, mixed-breed puppy named Pushinka, which is Russian for “Fluffy.” She was a puppy of Strelka, a Soviet space dog who orbited the planet aboard Sputnik 5 in 1960.


  • A femur bone fragment found in Alaska belonged to a domestic dog who lived in the region about 10,150 years ago--the oldest such remains found in the Americas to date.


  • Anthropologists at Washington State University have determined that women in 144 cultures are 220% more likely to treat dogs like people than men. 


  • The Barking Mat lets your dogs tell you when they need to go outside and do their business. Dogs step on the mat, which makes a barking sound, signaling owners.
